Something strange was happening to my laptop – Compaq Presario CQ40-340TU. The hard disk was spinning so hard for 30 seconds at 30 seconds interval. Spin hard for 30 seconds then stop and spin hard again after 30 seconds.
What was my gauge for the term “spinning hard”. Any sounds produce by the laptop are almost unnoticeable. Place ear near the palm rest and the sounds can be heard clearly. Mine was different. The spinning sound can be heard via 5 meters distance.
After two weeks, the hard drive failed. I bought a replacement. The spinning disorder happened again and the new hard disk failed after three days.
Do you know what was happening to my laptop? Any explanation?
